Julie Bowen is an American actress, who was born in Baltimore, Maryland, United States on March 3, 1970, as Julie Bowen Luetkemeyer. She is the daughter of mother Suzanne Frey and father John Alexander Luetkemeyer, Jr., a real estate entrepreneur. She has an older sister Molly Luetkemeyer, an interior designer, and a younger sister Annie Luetkemeyer, a doctor. Bowen studied at Calvert School in Baltimore, and then she joined Garrison Forest School in Maryland. She also attended Roland Park Country School, and then she went to St. George’s School, Rhode Island. She enrolled at Brown University.

Bowen has been in a relationship with David Spade from 2002 to 2003. Later, she started dating real estate investor Scott Phillips in 2004, and the couple got married on 9 September 2004.
